Product Description

OBDLink MX+ is a one-of-a-kind wireless OBD adapter that transforms any iPhone, iPad, or Android device into a professional-grade diagnostic scan tool, trip computer, and real-time performance monitor capable of accessing manufacturer-specific vehicle data.
The newest addition to the OBDLink family is even faster, more reliable, and more feature-rich than its predecessors.
It is the only wireless iOS-compatible scan tool on the market that supports the proprietary GM-LAN and Ford MS-CAN vehicle networks, giving you access to dozens of additional ECUs and thousands of manufacturer-specific trouble codes and parameters, including ABS, SRS, TPMS, A/C, transmission temperature, and wheel speeds.
While there are other solutions capable of displaying real-time data, OBDLink MX+ is optimized for maximum throughput, delivering up to four times more data samples per second than alternative options. This translates into smoother gauges and graphs, and the ability to simultaneously display multiple parameters.
OBDLink MX+ incorporates unique features that make it safe to leave plugged in: hacker-proof wireless security, overvoltage/load dump protection, and ultra-low-current sleep mode. For added peace of mind, MX+ includes firmware upgrades for the lifetime of the device.
Why should you choose MX+?
- Enhanced Diagnostics: read (and clear) manufacturer-specific codes and access live parameters on a wide range of Ford, GM, Mazda, Nissan, and Toyota vehicles
- GM-LAN and Ford MS-CAN: read and clear trouble codes from ECUs on proprietary vehicle networks that are off limits to BlueDriver and FIXD
- Unmatched performance: MX+ is 300% faster than the alternate solutions — display multiple live parameters and enjoy smooth gauges & graphs
- Dozens of compatible third party apps, and more added all the time!
- Intelligent sleep mode: plug it in, and forget about it — it won't drain your car's battery
- Hacker-proof: unique security mechanism eliminates the risk of unauthorized access
- Rock-solid connection: no dropped packets, no gaps in the data
*Check with third party app provider to confirm compatibility
OBDLink MX+, Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner and Vehicle Performance Monitor

Connect With Your Car Like Never Before
This pocket-size adapter won't obstruct driver legroom and features unmatched performance, intelligent sleep mode, hacker-proof security, exceptional third party app support, and no cost lifetime firmware and software updates.
The included OBDLink app offers outstanding features that makes it easy to access, graph, log, and export real-time engine data. Plus, your car's data can be directly downloaded or instantaneously uploaded and shared with others using DropBox.
OBDLink MX+ provides wireless connectivity for all OBD-II protocols, plus advanced automotive networks commonly used in many late-model GM, Ford, Mazda, Nissan, and Toyota vehicles. For supported GM models, you can control windows, door locks, and even remotely start your engine with the 3rd-party obdCANex Android app.
YOUR PROFESSIONAL-GRADE OBD2 BLUETOOTH SCANTOOL AND VEHICLE PERFORMANCE MONITOR
MORE COVERAGE
OBDLink MX+ works with all 1996 and newer cars and light trucks sold in the United States (except hybrid or electric vehicles). The OBDLink proprietary connection algorithm enables MX+ to connect to more makes and models than any other scan tool. It also supports EOBD, JOBD, and all other international variants of OBD-II. Read and clear codes on all OBD-compliant vehicles, NO EXCEPTIONS.
MORE FEATURES
OBDLink MX+'s functionality is limited only by the imagination of the programmers that write the apps. Apps that exist on the market today, can be used to:
- Measure and display fuel economy
- Remote start your car (on select vehicles)
- Create a digital dashboard or a heads-up display
- Buy a used car with confidence
- Lock/unlock doors (on select vehicles)
- Clear the ‘Check Engine’ light, and investigate its cause
- Display, graph, and log hundreds of real-time parameters
- Read and erase stored and pending trouble codes (both generic and manufacturer-specific)
- Access emissions readiness and freeze frame information
MORE SECURE
Unlike other OBD adapters, MX+ does not use an easy-to-guess PIN and requires physical access for the initial pairing. It doesn't broadcast its presence and employs strong encryption — sensible precautions to keep hackers out of your vehicle's network.
MORE APPS
OBDLink MX+ works with dozens of popular third-party apps like Torque, Dash, FORScan, DashCommand, obdCANex, and Harry's Lap Timer to unlock enhanced performance, save fuel, change vehicle settings and even control door locks and remotely start the engine on select vehicles.
Note: many apps are currently available exclusively on Android; check with app provider to confirm compatibility.
MORE DATA
OBDLink MX+ supports GM-LAN and Ford-MSC proprietary vehicle networks that provide access to thousands of additional parameters that are off-limits to all other wireless OBD scanners, including BlueDriver and FIXD.
With third party apps, you can enable convenience features (including remote start and door lock/unlock) and change configuration on select models.
MORE RELIABLE
When you turn off your engine, OBDLink MX+ goes to sleep and won't drain your automobile's battery. Its sophisticated triggers will wake up MX+ when you connect via Bluetooth, unlock doors, or crank the engine.
MX+ includes overvoltage/load dump protection, a feature critical for any OBD device that is designed to be powered from the vehicle's 12-volt system.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2025Why did you pick this product vs others?:
Overpriced, usually. Got it on a prime day sale for $111, and I'm happy with that price. Bringing myself to pay $140+tax was just realllly pushing it, and quite made me try a couple other $20-50 models instead under rhat $100 price point.
This one is/does exactly what its advertised to do, and dosent require any additional purchases, unlike all the others, which are nothing but generic code scanners with some useless software bells & whistles that nobody wants or needs. The first thing I noticed with this one was that it actually pulls any PENDING codes, as well as the confirmed ones... this simple and basic feature is something that I assumed ALL scanners, basic or advanced would have the ability to do - this assumption was dead wrong though. Only this one was able to pull them in the same operation with the confirmed codes and lay them all right there for you to see. The major reason for purchase (and not returning it, ever) is the ability to detect and read the 40+ OEM specific modules, and read/clear their codes as well. Every single one, including the multiple CHRYSLER & GM VEHICLES THAT I HAVE TESTED IT ON SO FAR, this device automatically went straight into the enhanced data download page for each vehicle I plugged it into. You download the data for that specific model year, gor free - EVEN RHOUGH IT DOES SAY $14.99 at first, that changes to say free once you click continue and proceed to download it (also this proccess takes less than a minute per vehicle to disconnect the ble connection, download, then reconnect) and boom, everhthing anybody could ever want or need to know about any part of any vehicle is right there for you to access... from the ECU, to the transmission Module, all the way down the to ABS, Airbag, and even the factory radio/Amplifier modules...Literally, if the vehicle has a particular module on it network - this adapter with its paired INCLUDED OBDLInk software is quite literally the first thing I should have purchased and saved myself the hassle and the time to return the others now that I got exactly what I KNEW I needed/was hoping that one of the cheaper alternatives could provide me, even if it was insanely complicated and time consuming - I would have been 100% fine with that, for less than $100, which is what any device like this SHOULD cost, no matter what "added value" software features are included... even though there is nothing I have seen that compares to the MX+ to date, at the end of the day it is still just a $19.99 BLE to OBD2 reader... Bit in this case, paying an aditional $100 for the software doesnt bother me one bit, because its very clear just how much time and work has been put into compiling all of the data that is included for free with this BLE adapter, and the interface is exactly what you would expect from such advanced diagnostic software. Havent tested functionality with 3rd party apps and software as of yet, because thankfully to my surprise - the OBDlink software was more than sufficient to tell me when the last time the codes were cleared was, what those historical codes were, along with those previously cleared vodes being OEM specific codes, with a very clear path showing which kodule they were on/exactly what the code was for. Grom my research I assumed that I would need to putchase Jscan for an aditional $50 to get any info from these specific OEM modules, when I scanned my first chrysler 300 I was looking to purchase... but nope, to my suprise the included ODBlknk slftware showed me literally everything I could ever want to know about that CHRYSLER DODGE vehicle, being my initial use of the app, going straight to the extra data for that year chrysler vehicle add-on, automatically, without me needing to manually input anything or even touch the addon button - honestly, the longest part of the new vehicle DEEP OEM MODULE scanning proccess was once i clicked "download", the app just went to the previous page each time I clicked it, not realizing that it was just a minor glitch, that I quickly resolved by manually unplugging and re-plugging in the dongle to power cycle it once. After that, it was smooth sailing, automatically updating the app screen taking me back to the home page to reconnect, with the add on data pack info already installed. Had my deep scan of the modules completed and ready to view within 30 seconds from there.... Total time to deep scan upon first use, I plugged into a random 2017 chrysler 300 that was for sale - 2-3 minutes, from sealed box, to all moduled detected and read... each of the 4 vehicles after that initial setup/learning proccess, without any other addon data installed previously - less than 1 minute from plug in to all OEM modules being detected, listed, then scanned producing a FULL report, with ALL modules included in the scan after that initial vehicle/use of the MX+.... It does everything so fast that I would do an all module scan multiple times because I felt like it was TOO fast, and was skipping some of the 20-40 different modules i had selected, just to make sure it was actually getting rhem all... lol. So ya.. for somebody who sells cars for a living, or any professional mechanic on any budget - this is a 100% must have tool. More essential than a screwdriver... any and all info anybody could ever want to see, onneach vehicle i tested this with, during my used car buying proccess, was produced within just a minute or two TOPS, Thanks to owning the MX+ and biting the bullet when it came to that $100+ pricetag, for such a basic peice of hardware... because again - it is not the hardware you are paying for here, and in my experience - for rhe first time ever, with a product like this (where the cheap hardware is'nt what your paying for, its actually the software) I am actually HAPPY that I made myself try this VERY specific model, the MX+... Because to my knowledge, it is the only one that included all OEM specific addons (the ability to detect and read each individual module on the vehicles canvas network) for free, bypassing the entire payment proccess and instantly downloading, instead of costing $14.99 and needing to go through a checkout proccess for basically each and every new model or year vehicle that you want to use the device on, if you want anything more than a basic $19.99 GENERIC ECU scan to be performed... from my understanding this much is even true for the LX+ model (the green android only version).. I have jo experience with it to say for sure, but the way it is worded on the amazon page, is as if these "add-on" data packs for each vehicle that normally cost $14.99 aren't included with that model, and only because of this, I played it safe and went for the mx+ to be sure that they were free. Otherwise. If they also included with the LX, Im still happy to spend the extra $40 for the adapter to be black instead of lime green, even being a lifelong android ONLY phone user... Who will never allow anyone's iPhone to connect to this device for any reason just because I hate iPhone's almost as deeply as this software is able to scan a can-bus network... lol I never write reviews, but I did for this simply because of the fact that I know now after spending rhe $111 (normally $140) that this is indeed the exact product I was hoping for when I purchased all the others, including my $80 corded OBD2 foxwell advanced scan tool.. From my experience - The bottom line is, paying more than $99.99 for this product was/is still just not okay with me out of pure principle. I am not the type of person to invest in anhthing that I dont physically own, or for software that I can get for free via open-source like most OBD2 scanners give you the ability to do... but for the $111 price I paid, it was JUST barely reasonable enough to give it a shot and then return it if it turned out to be what I expected initially ( an overpriced scanner, that would need an additional $50 jscan app purchase to detect chrysler modules correctly)... no additional app purchase neccessary though to my surprise... for any of the big 3 vehicles I have tested now... therefore saving me at least $20 for the cheapest paid app purchase, because it is not neccessary in order to read anything from anywhere... the only time you need to pay for those 3rd party apps is if you want the ability to WRITE and/or MODIFY any of the data stored in the vehicles modules from what I can tell. And for me, a car shopper & mechanic who will use this on many different vehicles over the years now, that is just not something that I generally need to be able to do, though it WOULD make the $140 usual pricetag of this device in 2025, a WHOLE lot more reasonable/easy to swallow if it also included addition bidirectional software like $50 jscan for example... the main reason I avoided this device so hard initially was because Ive known of it for years, and it has always been exactly 99.99, on sale for less even, a couple of times...which ALOT of people already didn't like, but still could bring themselves to pay it, just like myself.. so when i saw that it was now $139.99 and had no 3rd party software or anything that really stood out for value-added, it became an automatic "nope" in my mind. Out of pure principle. The device is the same device it was years ago. Now Bluetooth version upgrade, not hardware revision advertised, ect... so clearly this is just a greedy company grabbing as much as possible now that rhey have the reviews to back it up, is what I assumed and I never like supporting sellers of any product who do this on amazon... but to my veey pleasant surprise, this is one time when my assumption was wrong. They should have price this device at 59.99 initially, and raised it to 99.99 instead of the way they did it. They would sell thousands more units, maybe even hundred of thousands, simply because of other people who think just like I do. It may be worth $139.99, but because I should've bought it for 99.99 2 years ago and didn't- let rhem be greedy, I'll find a better way.... a better way here simply does not exist though... maybe one does elsewhere, but on amazon? To my knowledge? Literally no other option to detect and scan all of the individual OEM modules exists for cheaper and if it does, it is a paid subscription service you have to renew, or it lacks to bidirectional capabilities that this does have when used with 3rd party apps... but one would have no way to know these things, without the ability to waste time on multiple other products and hours of research, like myself. If your somebody whonwants to scan more than 1 vehicle, and your time is worth more than $10/hr - stop crying & pouting about the price, and just buy this stupid thing. Nothing else can do what this one does, on more than 1 vehicle, or without a paid yearly subscription - Other than this one. Period... I am in Norway saying that the price is okay, bevause even though I praise this device, it is still just a BLE dongle, which relies on open source software to function. The $99 pricetag was just barely digestible, given all the functionality and compatibility... more rhan $100 is just taking pure advantage of the open source community IMO, and if I were the owner of this product listing, I would never have allowed the price to go above $99. Its worth it, as I said... but it is not a truely proprietary device with its own proprietary software... there are other devices that im sure I have not tried that would give me the same exact functionality for well under 100. I was just limited to Amazon's offerings is the only reason I didn't try them. Drop the price back to the barely digestible $99.99 OBDlink... It's the only way that you get the 40%+ of people who haven't tried this product to order it, be pleasantly surprised just like I was...and actually keep it when they see the endless value for themselves... what people are willing to pay for a product determines its worth. I would gladly pay $140 for this NOW that I've used it and have spent time with it... but never would I have allowed myself to do that, given the somewhat unclear selling points that I've outlined in DETAIL for you in this review. Thanks for the great product OBDlink, I just hope when I go to use it in 5 years, it will still function as well as it has this week. That is the other reason ALOT of mechanics in particular would never "waste" their money on a product like this. Small businesses close up shop everyday leaving the customers who rely on their software, hanging... So what is stopping OBDlink from being another useless dongle after the 3 year garauntee?... the answer is, absolutely nothing. Therefore the price has to reflect that very real possibility among other things. People from all backrounds can eat this typenof product up at $99... just barelt though....at 140 though, I would assume you've lost at least 40% of possible new customers though. Its just basic business sense to lock it in back at 99 and call it a day and see what rhe future holds, with a considerably larger total number of units sold... That is all I'm saying.
Either way, at 200 or less, this this is as good as it gets on Amazon... what peoppe are willing tonpay is a totally seperate conversarion outlined above lol...Thank you for keeping this product/app alive as long as you have so far. Hopefully you do the same for all of us just now buying this "overpriced" BLE dongle in 2025, as well. (Because if it still works for me in 2030, just as well as it does today, then it will be a severely underpriced product at that point... and I hope to be pleasantly just as surprised then as I am now, all over again. Only time will tell.)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2025I bought this to debug the TPMS lights on my 2019 Promaster using the AlfaOBD software on a latptop PC. This did require the yellow low speed adapter cable to communicate with TPMS on Promaster. I also used the MX+ to clear an evap code on my Honda Odyssey using OBDLink Android app. Previously, I've had $15ish ELM327 bluetooth adapters with different Android apps such as Torque Pro. 1 from 12 years ago. 1 from 4 years ago. The ELM327 stuff worked some, but they were always difficult to use, flaky connection, and would not access the modules I needed to access. The MX+ connected right away to both my laptop and my tablet. OBDLink company has email support that responded. The MX+ plus has firmware can be updated and indicator lights so you know when it's doing somethng. ODBLink's Android app worked well for debugging, but I have a Scanguage 3, so I did not use it for gauges while driving. I was skeptical about the $140 price for a bluetooth anything. If you are considering buying a dedicated mid-range scantool, this could be a good option with the right software for your make of car. Comes in a nice zipper pouch, but glossy box with magnetic closure is way over packaged.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 202510/10. Love that I can change DRL lights from high beam to turn signal lights. Looks awesome. Plus I can lower the voltage. Also awesome. The App itself (AlfaObd) costed me $52. The one I chose for changing DRL lights. Connects really fast. Good quality. Has its nice little case where the obd2 kept in. Reads even the codes for BCM. You can change literally so many things. But I recommend first to upload a backup file to Google drive if you want to do something with it. Eazy to mess your car up. Also, when you change stuff, you don't have to wait at all. You can change for example the voltage of high beam live. You don't have to turn it off or do anything. If something is weird. Just turn it off and start the car again. I was doing changes right when the car engine was running. Only one issue so far when driver side led didn't light up at all when I was changing its voltage. I thought I killed it but no, it was just an internal error so restarted the car and the led worked again. Watch some videos before using the App. But if you come across the guy who says you have to wait for 5 minutes.. no you don't. Like I said I was changing stuff live, so I could monitor love what I am doing. Originally I bought it bc I have a van that has high beam daylight running lights. It was fine with halogen bulbs. But once I swapped to LED it was just blasting them like I had them on, blinding other drivers in the front of me. And when I turn them on it didn't seem to make any difference because it was almost full power applied. Sometimes I got some drivers blink at me lol. I was thinking to change it physically to rewire stuff. But decided to go easier way. Get it now !! It's a game changer.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2025I actually like this thing. You can hook it up to your phone or laptop. I downloaded the ForScan for both my iPhone and laptop and it worked great. I've used it on my 2014 CX-5 to recalibrate the fuel gauge and instrument cluster. Also, I used to chase down a misfire. Instead of guessing you can use the ForScan app and look at which cylinder is misfiring in real time to see the specific problem.
